Dr. James Von Ehr

James R. Von Ehr II is Founder and Chairman of Zyvex Performance Materials, Zyvex Instruments, Zyvex Labs, and Zyvex Asia.

Von Ehr is recognized as a respected leader within the nanotechnology industry. He founded the Texas Nanotechnology Initiative and the Feynman Grand Prize in Nanotechnology. His significant gift established the University of Texas at Dallas (UTD) NanoTech Institute. He has also endowed the James Von Ehr Distinguished Chair of Science and Technology at UTD, held by the late Nobel Laureate Alan MacDiarmid, and established the James Von Ehr Scholars program at Michigan State University (MSU).

Von Ehr was named an Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year in June 2003. He has also been named Distinguished Alumni of MSU and UTD, and in 2006, received MSUís Claud Erickson Award, their highest engineering honor. Dr. Ray H. Baughman

Ray Baughman Became the Robert A. Welch Professor of Chemistry and Director of NanoTech Institute at the University of Texas in Dallas in August 2001, after 31 years in industry. He is a Member of National Academy of Engineers, Fellow of the American Physical Society and the World Innovation Foundation, an Academician of the Russian Academy of Natural Sciences, and an Honorary Professor of three universities in China, Ray has 58 US patents and over 280 publications with over 11,500 citations. He has received the Chemical Pioneer Award of the American Institute of Chemists (1995) and the Cooperative Research Award in Polymer Science and Engineering (1996).

Ray Baughman has also received the New Materials Innovation Prize of the Avantex International Forum for Innovative Textiles (2005), Nano 50 Awards from Nanotech Briefs Magazine for Carbon Nanotube Sheets and Yarns (2006) and for Fuel Powered Artificial Muscles (2007), the NanoVic Prize from Australia (2006), the Scientific American Magazine 50 recognition for outstanding technological leadership (2006), Chancellor’s Entrepreneurship and Invention Award (2007), 21 for the 21st Century award (2007), the Alumni Distinguished Achievement Award of Carnegie Mellon University (2007), and the Kapitza Metal of the Russian Academy of Natural Sciences (2007).

Robert L. Robb is Associate Director-Venture Development for The Institute of Innovation & Entrepreneurship at UTD. Mr. Robb is a Senior Lecturer in the School of Management at the University of Texas at Dallas and has been a member of UTD Faculty since 2005, teaching graduate and undergraduate courses in entrepreneurship. Mr. Robb is also a consultant and an advisor to several early stage enterprises. Mr. Robb's perspective of new venture development is that of entrepreneur, venture investor and new venture developer with over 26 years experience in creating, managing and advising emerging enterprises. He has funded, founded, nurtured and/or managed 24 early stage companies and served as CEO of 7 emerging enterprises. Seven of the 23 companies Mr. Robb assisted have established a combined market capitalization in excess of $700 million and several companies were acquired by larger firms. He has coached entrepreneurs and advised early stage companies in all facets of creating and managing new ventures and has raised more than $80 million for start-up and early stage companies.

Mr. Robb's experience includes 6 years with two, seed-stage, venture capital firms, including a public venture fund, and 10 years as a venture developer and technology commercialization executive with Baylor College of Medicine (BCM Technologies, Inc.) and as the director of University of Michigan's technology transfer office with responsibility to commercialize technology through the creation of new ventures.His industry experience spans healthcare, biotechnology, medical devices , medical instrumentation, financial services, oil and gas, travel industry, and training. He currently serves as advisor or consultant to Aqua-Synergy, BioSig ID, BioHealth Advance, Solarno, North Texas Enterprise Center, and IMBST at UTD.Mr. Robb received a Bachelor of Science degree in Environmental Biology from the University of Utah, and a Master of Science Degree in Parasitology/Microbiology from the University of Utah
